Good Food After a Great Journey: Our Green Planet Experience

After spending a peaceful evening at Adiyogi near Isha Foundation, Chikkaballapur, it was time to begin our journey back home. As expected, all that exploring had worked up quite an appetite, and the next mission was clear—find a good place for dinner! Since we weren't familiar with the area and had no clue about the dining options nearby, we turned to our trusted travel companion: Google. After browsing through a few highly-rated places and keeping some backup options handy, we decided to head to Green Planet Restaurant, located within Veerdency Resort. The drive there was interesting. A short detour through a rather rough stretch of road made us wonder if we had made the right choice despite the promising online ratings. But about ten minutes later, we arrived at the property and instantly felt reassured. The restaurant looked inviting, and we were glad we had trusted the reviews. After settling into our table, we were greeted by a familiar sight of modern dining—a QR code menu. ...

Magnolia Bakery, Bengaluru — Dessert Stop That Turned Into a Mini Adventure 🍦🌧️

After stuffing ourselves with heavenly pizzas at Brik Oven, we thought the food trail for the evening was over. But my sister-in-law had other plans — “We HAVE to go to Magnolia Bakery!” And honestly, thank goodness she insisted. With a light drizzle setting the perfect Bengaluru weather mood, we walked around 5–7 minutes towards Magnolia Bakery. The closer we got, the more obvious it became that this place was wildly popular. The bakery was absolutely buzzing — packed both inside and outside. People were everywhere: standing in line, hovering near the counters, waiting to place orders, waiting to collect orders… And somehow, that chaos made the place feel even more exciting. The display counters looked like a dessert lover’s dream. Cakes, pastries, cookies, brownies, ice creams — basically the kind of place where self-control quietly leaves your body. Since we are hardcore ice-cream people, that’s exactly where our attention went. Everyone picked different flavours, and naturally, the...

Brik Oven - woodfired pizzas (Church Street)

Image
There’s something special about spending a weekend at Bengaluru’s iconic Church Street — the bustling lanes, endless shopping stops, bookstores, cafés, and the vibrant energy that keeps the place alive throughout the day. After hours of walking around with shopping bags in hand, hunger finally caught up with us and we started looking for a comfortable place to sit down and eat. Our first choice was Brik Oven , mainly because the summer heat made air conditioning feel non-negotiable. Unfortunately, the place was packed and the waiting time was nearly 30 minutes. Most of the other restaurants we considered either didn’t have proper air conditioning or were equally crowded, so we spent some more time roaming around Church Street, clicking pictures, and soaking in the lively atmosphere before finally getting a cosy corner table at Brik Oven. The wait, thankfully, turned out to be worth it. We started with their Cheese Garlic Sourdough Bread , which was warm, flavourful, and per...

Discovering MTR Beyond the Ready-to-Cook Packs

Image
Whenever someone mentions MTR, the first thing that comes to mind is their famous ready-to-cook mixes sitting proudly on supermarket shelves. From rava idli to upma, MTR has been a household name for years. So, discovering that they also run restaurants came as a complete surprise to me. A few days ago, while visiting Bhartiya Mall of Bengaluru, I spotted an MTR restaurant on the ground floor and instantly decided to give it a try. A Busy Sunday Breakfast Spot We visited on a Sunday morning, which is usually the ultimate test for any breakfast place. The restaurant was completely packed — always a good sign when it comes to South Indian food. Despite the crowd, the place was impressively clean, organized, and had a warm, welcoming vibe. The aroma of freshly brewed filter coffee and crispy dosas filled the air, making the wait absolutely worth it. Breakfast Done Right The menu offered a fantastic variety of classic South Indian breakfast dishes. We ordered: Masala Dosa Podi Dosa Idli Wa...

Singh Saab, Balewadi

Image
Saw a random reel on Instagram that caught my attention. The food items in the reel looked tempting, so the reel made its way to the saved items.  While looking for a place for anniversary dinner, the saved reel stuck my mind.  It was around 20 mins drive from home.  The place was well located. It had indoor and outdoor seating with clean washroom and a separate hand wash area.  We were given the menu which had ample options including soups, starters, Chinese, punjabi.  Being punjabi at heart and the restaurant being punjabi too, we wished to have punjabi cuisine.  We ordered singh saab special thali which included 5 types of veggies, 4 types of paranthe, raita, sweet, papad, lassi and then ordered additional lachchha parantha and a garlic naan.  This was followed by chhole bhature and lassi.  The service took some time but they item was as delicious and tempting as it looked in the insta reel.  The place was quite economical and was complete...

Radha Krishna, Pimple Saudagar

Radha Krishna is a pure veg outlet in Pimple Saudagar located on the main road, opposite rainbow plaza.  It was our 12th anniversary and we planned to visit Radha Krishna restaurant for their famous breakfast buffet.  We reached there around 9am and settled down on one of the tables.  The buffet spread had variety of dishes: Misal Pav Idli Mini wada Poha Upma Kanda bhaji Rice kheer Dosa & utthapam on order Milk, tea & coffee The items were all well maintained to be hot, and the supplies were continuously being replenished.  The place & ambience is both good, food is superb and a huge spread in ₹199 is definitely worth on a lazy weekend morning 🌞

Shriniwas veg, seasons mall

Image
We had a plan of going out for lunch during office hours. Wanted to find a place nearby. Searched Zomato to zero in on Shriniwas veg. A new veg restaurant that had opened up in seasons mall. The menu was also kind of pre-decided. We tried booking on Zomato for 1pm and it showed full, do we booked for 1.30pm. we reached there according to our booked slot and found the place quite vacant. It has a separate section for fast food items, an enclosed seating area with AC and an open area. We took our table in the open area and ordered almost what we had already decided. The green Island was way too sweet in the first attempt which they later made better on getting the feedback , while the virgin mojito was good. We tried tomato bruschetta and dragon rolls for starters. Both were put of league and were good to taste something different. The main course was good including the butter garlic naan. By then we were too full, but still wanted to try the desserts too. So called for a sizzling browni...
